Because of the growing concern regarding the number of Victorian COVID-19 cases that have come from an unknown source, a State of Disaster has been declared across the state. This means Stage 4 restrictions for Melbourne metro and Stage 3 restrictions for regional Victoria for a six-week period.
Are there any elective surgery restrictions in Melbourne and regional Victoria?
Yes, all non-urgent category 2 and all category 3 elective surgeries across private and public hospitals in Melbourne and regional Victoria will be paused until further notice. Category 1 surgeries will continue.
If you have any pre-booked surgeries, please contact your hospital directly.
For more information, please visit the Victorian Dept. of Health & Human Services website.
Will health services stay open?
Though many health services remain open, we recommend confirming with your provider, as heightened Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne metro may limit the availability of some services.
Remember, you’ll be able to continue to access some extras services via telehealth consultations. If your provider’s services are offered via phone or video call and are included on your extras cover, we’ll continue to pay benefits towards individual telehealth consultations for the following services: Psychology Physiotherapy, Exercise physiology, Speech therapy, Diet and nutrition, Podiatry and Occupational therapy too (subject to waiting periods).
What other support is available to me?
Including options to suspend your policy for 3 months or get Partial Premium Assistance – in the form of a 50% reduction to your premium for 6 months – which means you’ll still be able to use your cover. We are also extending our support to members who live in an area with a declared State of Disaster (currently only in Victoria) and offering two weeks of premium relief that will be applied from 2 October 2020.
Hospital support if you get coronavirus
