From 1 October 2026, industry-wide changes to how card payments work mean the card surcharge has been removed - so you won't see a surcharge added when you pay by Visa or Mastercard.
Hang on, what was it?
Before 1 October 2026, paying your premium with a Visa or Mastercard came with a small surcharge - 0.21%. It applied if you joined ahm after 16 September 2016, or if you joined before then but changed your product and paid by card.
So what's different now?
Card surcharges have been removed across the board from this date, so that fee is gone. Pay by Visa or Mastercard and you'll pay a touch less than before. Your premium hasn't changed - it's just the surcharge that's come off. Nothing you need to do, it happens automatically.
